Some Things Are Worth Waiting For

I would like to choke the person who says some things are worth waiting for. I’m beginning to go nuts waiting on my baby to be born. I’ve been very patient through most of this pregnancy, but now that I’m approaching a week overdue my patience is beginning to waiver. One of my pet peeves is people who like to whine about their problems. Guess who’s getting on my nerves now – ME.

Inside my head I have become the whiniest person I’ve ever met. If my thoughts were to spill out of my mouth, my husband would surely rush me to the hospital for a c-section. He would definitely think that I was on the verge of dying. I feel like I’m having never ending menstrual cramps. I’m constantly hungry, but can’t eat everything I want to because of the gestational diabetes. My feet and legs hurt. My back hurts. My boobs hurt.

Putting my head through the sheetrock doesn’t help. No, I haven’t done that, but not because I think it would hurt. I just know how long it would take to get the wall patched up. (Not that I’m insinuating our Mr. Fix-It is slow to get the job done or anything.)
For the most part, my brain is filled with thoughts of how nice it would be to sleep through the night. Between emptying the bladder and trying to turn over to my other side, I can’t get any decent amount of sleep. It reminds me of what life was like before I got my sleep apnea machine. Unfortunately I know what a good night’s sleep is like (thanks to the sleep machine) and I know what I’m missing.

It’s kind of like – once you’ve had sex, you never want to do without it. I love sleep and I don’t want to do without it. Before the sleep apnea machine, I didn’t realize that I was missing out on a good sleep. I didn’t know better. Now that’s got me to thinking about how only 9+ months ago, I didn’t have to worry about this huge baby belly. I know what it’s like to have my body all to myself and I want this baby to stop taking my body over. I plan on breast feeding, so I guess I’ll be saying soon enough that I can’t wait to have my boobies back to myself either.

See I wasn’t kidding about the whining. No, I haven’t shared this with anyone else – at least not to this extent. It’s easier to lash out and scream via the internet. It can’t divorce me or put me into a crazy ward. (I wouldn’t comment about this statement unless you want a hormonal pregnant woman to deal with.)

Sudoku: The Number Puzzle

I think it is so fascinating that someone can invent a new puzzle game. What must be going through these people’s minds when they design a new game? Did it happen by accident or were they trying to create something new? I’ve recently researched a little bit about the Sudoku puzzle game. From what I can tell, Howard Garns, in 1979,  gets the credit for the puzzles in the United States. He created the puzzles and called them The Number Puzzle. However, earlier than that in Japan, they were created. Of coarse, the puzzles we see today are modernized and not like they were originally.

Addicting they are. I absolutely love to work these puzzles in the evening while the family gathers around the television. I’ve learned to “watch” tv with my ears. Here’s a sample of a Sudoku puzzle.

Wordless Wednesday

DCP00925

On Wednesdays all over the internet, bloggers post a photograph with no words to explain it on their blog. Hence the ‘wordless’ title. The idea is that the photo itself says so much that it doesn’t need any description.

No Strings Attached by Millie Criswell

No_Strings_Attached_Criswell

This is one of the books that I’ve read this year. I thought it was an alright book. I usually like a book that isn’t so easy to figure out. I pretty much knew what was going to happen before it did. Here is what the back of the book says…

Samantha Brady’s to-do list is simple…

Sell her novel, have a baby and find the man of her dreams – though not necessarily in that order. Trouble is, she has writer’s block, hasn’t had a date in months and lives platonically with her best friend, Jack Turner, the only man who has ever met her Prince Charming criteria.

She and Jack have always avoided romantic entanglements of any kind, especially with each other. No strings. No fuss. No heartaches. Until one night too much wine and too few inhibitions takes their friendship to a whole new level.

Sam’s to-do list-and her life – are turned completely upside down. She’s realized she wouldn’t mind a “string” or two – but is she too late to keep her perfect guy from walking out the door?

Patching Up Momma’s Quilt

Sarah learns to patch up a quilt.

Sarah learns to patch up a quilt.

One afternoon Sarah was lying across my bed fingering one of the many holes in my quilt. Unfortunately my children love to do acrobats on my bed and my quilt takes a beating. She asked me why I didn’t fix the holes. It was like a light came on in my head. What better way for her to learn to sew. I got out my sewing kit and showed her how to get started. Believe it or not, it didn’t take us long to repair the many seams on the quilt.

She did a wonderful job and I can just about guarantee there won’t be any seams coming apart that we repaired.

Digital Pictures: 1st Album Completed

I’ve been working on scanning my photos into my computer. I’ve completed one album so far. The album is one that holds many pictures of my siblings from when they were children and also from more recent years with their kids. My brothers and sister were wonderful children in my eyes. Each one was beautiful and so interesting with their unique personalities. I am amazed how large my family has grown since then. My brother, George, is engaged to a nice girl with 2 kids. My sister, Kathy, is married with 3 kids. My brothers John, Tommy, and Michael each have 3 kids a piece. My brother, Kenny, is the only one yet to settle down and start a family.

After going through the album and organizing the photos on my facebook and myspace, I’ve noticed that I have gaps in the time frames. I need to get with them and see if I can get some updated photos of them with their children. Time has flew by so fast that I’ve not been able to keep up with everybody. Maybe I should make that part of my New Year’s Resolution for 2010.
