I no longer use my very spacious metal desk with lots of wonderful drawers, but instead have converted to a folding table with barely the space for my laptop. This didn’t happen because I don’t have the desk anymore. No it’s still right where I left it (collecting dust and anything else everyone wants to sit on it because my family doesn’t like to put things where they go). I tried to replace our sofa with my desk. The family decided that it just wasn’t the same. (Ok, so maybe I didn’t, but I did consider doing this only I didn’t want to listen to Motormouth and Princess fight over the recliner.)
The folding table is nice. I am able to squeeze my bottle of water, digital camera, and my Nintendo DS Lite on the table with my laptop. Instead of sitting in my rolling office chair with arm rests (oh yeah – it was nice), I now do my computing in my rocking chair (with matching ottoman). Not only am I able to check my email, but I can use my breast pump at the same time, watch the big screen tv, and see who’s coming into the house without even getting out of my chair.
Baby Molly has changed my routine quite a bit. It’s not very easy to sit at my old desk holding her with my boobie popped out. I prefer the rocking chair with matching ottoman. My butt gets more cushion and I can even put things down in the side pockets on either side of the chair. One side is full of the diabetes testing materials. I need to ditch those things since I don’t have the sugar problem anymore. The other side usually has the tv remote, a bottle of water, the mail that I keep forgetting to go through, and other various items. I’m just happy to have the time to get on the computer.
Between feeding the baby, cooking, and cleaning, it has been hard to squeeze in several free minutes in a row. I have adopted the motto, “Grab the time when you can and don’t whine about the time you don’t have.” I wish I could say that the motto will become famous and everyone will start using it, but I don’t deceive myself just to make me feel better about my mush brain brilliant mind.
Sometimes depending on which side the baby is currently gnawing off feeding on, I can multi task and surf the internet. Other times I can even read a book on my Nintendo DS. By the way, I got the DS for Christmas from my sweetie. I wonder if I’m the only mother who gets those kinds of things for Christmas.
